Gone Shopping

This Saturday we set off to get some school clothes for the girls. They have both grown like weeds and all of last years jeans are looking like capris now. We enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds of NY on our way to and from Rockefeller Plaza. A few pictures above show our travels. One of the pictures is of one of the many atrium areas we see in NY. These are all over the place. They make a really good area to come and sit in NY to escape one of its sudden downpours. Another we went inside of is in the next post- inside the SONY building. I took a picture of this Crate and Barrel because it illustrated two things about NYC- one that more and more buildings are "landscaping" their fronts and sides- like this Crate and Barrel- and the other aspect of this that is interesting are these steam outlets. I have seen these all over the place ever since the steam explosion near Grand Central. Wondering if it is a precautionary thing? Another picture is of the flying rats of NYC. I really have a love hate relationship with pigeons. They are some of the only wildlife we have in NYC so in that sense you have to kind of appreciate them but on the other hand they really are obnoxious gross creatures that really are not afraid of you- (much to the excitement of my children)- they will not fly off until you are about 6 inches away.
