Night Time Routine

These pictures illustrate one part of our night time routine the girls really enjoy. For about 30 minutes at night they get to read/look at books. Eva loves to go through picture books and Madeline is reading like crazy. She is currently reading "Black Beauty" and really enjoying it.

Wildlife Spotted

In the mornings a gander of geese decide to land in the field below our building and look for worms in the moist ground. Madeline and Eva like to watch them from above so we decided today to go down and take some pictures of them down there....

The woose toof finally falls out

Madeline's bottom tooth finally bit the dust after weeks of holding on by....I don't know what. It was so loose these past couple of days it was literally hanging out of her mouth- so I am very relieved that it has made its exit and by the end of tonight will be property of the tooth fairy.

Our first visitor

So this weekend we had our first visitor come to stay with us in NYC. Auntie Carol was on a business trip near Boston and she was able to take a train ride down to NYC to stay with us friday, saturday and sunday. I picked her up from Penn Station late on Friday night and gave her a small scale tour of Times Square, and we took a late night scenic tram ride back to the Apt. The next morning we visited the Farmers Market and then it was off to the Natural History Museum. There was so much to see in this museum- and we only had time to scratch the surface. We also walked through Rockefeller Square area and saw some sights. The group picture is of us in front of Radio City Music Hall. After returning home Carol and I went out for a night on the town. We went shopping in Rockefeller Square and 5th Avenue, and then tried to have dessert at Serendipity. The lines were longer than we wanted to deal with so we had appetizers and dessert at California Pizza Kitchen. Sunday morning began bright and early. We headed to church down in Union Square and then after church I took Carol down to Ground Zero to see the construction on the new Freedom Tower that is being built. From there we headed to Penn Station and she was off to Boston again! We had a good time!

Hairy Chenns

So the girls and I went down to the local library here on RI and got a stockpile of books. While we were there we were initiated into the Summer reading program. The girls got a collection of stick on mustaches from the program (I guess to make them look like detectives?) and were so excited to go home and show dad their newly sprouted facial hair. Dad enjoyed the show, and decided to let Owen in on the fun. He didn't find the mustache as funny as we did though:).

Weekend Fun

This weekend began like the others that have come before here in NYC. We began Saturday with a trip to the Farmer's Market here on RI and then headed home with our loot- and the carrots were a hit! After lunch we headed to Grand Central Station to take a train to New Rochelle. This is north of us in NY. About a 35 minute train ride. The girls enjoyed the Metro-North as it is called. It is much cleaner than the subway (although not really all that clean- we are talking comparisons here:) and the seats have cushions which they enjoyed. The girls really liked getting their tickets punched inside the train by the ticket guy. Madeline thought it reminded her of the movie "Polar Express." It was a lot of fun to spend time with our friends, the Jorys. We went swimming and ate some take out Chinese food. It was a good time with lots of laughs. They are friends from the BYU MBA program. We got back pretty late but it was pretty fun to ride the tram back in the dark. With all of NYC a glow it is quite the show. After coming home we went up on the roof deck for a quick glance at NYC one more time on this beautiful saturday night.
